Bluebottle Kiss - Ounce of Your Cruelty
FOD 029
Stripped of the brutal intensity of previous recordings
and defining a new territory for Bluebottle Kiss, Ounce
of Your Cruelty is something of a surprise package with
its sweetly addictive guitars and lyrics lamenting the
demise of a recent relationship.
With rock sound magazine championing the languid yet
compelling, Ounce of Your Cruelty as: Sounding like
the bastard cousins of Coldplay...this four-piece band
strike a mighty opening blow with this balmy, dreamy
single. Their song writing skills hark back to early
'80s troubadours like The Go-Betweens...but Ben Fletcher's
guitar adds poignancy, while Jamie Hutchings' uniquely
caressing voice proves very seductive.
Being quoted in such great company comes as nothing
of a surprise to a band blessed with a rich song writing
talent that can change climate whenever the mood is
appropriate.
Having enlisted the production skills of Zac and Krevis
(At the Drive-In) to produce this UK debut release,
and with a forthcoming album also enrolling the mercurial
talent that is Jack Endino (Nirvana), Bluebottle Kiss
is that rare breed of band who genuinely deserve the
plaudits that are so often bounded about.
Ounce of Your Cruelty is a bittersweet song basking
in past glories and present heartaches.
