Apache
Dropout
Bristol is well documented for its more fashionable
and often dance-orientated bands emanating from the
city that can often be as dark in tone as it can in
sound.
Apache Dropout have resisted the temptation of fashion
and instead crafted a body of work that is built around
the more traditional components and in the process crafted
something that is compelling and, at times, refreshing.

APACHE
DROPOUT Vs Omnivore -
'Silence - Hey Dopey' 12" vinyl FOD 023
With Silence being championed as a "breakbeat"
classic from various DJ sources, and the likes of Ken
Fan (Ministry of Sound), Groove Armada, and Jason Holmes
(Fat City) waxing lyrical about this slice of remixed
Bristol pop, Apache Dropout have good reason to breathe
more easily.
The recruitment of Omnivore to apply a deft touch to
the reworking of Silence - taken from Apache Dropout's
eponymous debut album - has created something of a stir
in the corridors of club land. A curious decision considering
the irony of the song but a decision that is so far
proving fruitful, especially since Annie Nightingale
(Radio One) confessed her love for the song: "Oh God
this is so gorgeous...it's making me cry."

Apache
Dropout - Apache Dropout FOD 015
As stark in its revelations as it is tempting in sound,
Apache Dropout have released a truly monumental debut
album.
Check out some of the stunning tracks like Francis,

Apache
Dropout - Galilee 7" vinyl FOD 022
Listen to the mellifluous vocal and gentle strumming
of an acoustic guitar complementing and caressing each
other and you cannot help but fall in love with the
bittersweet content of this song.
When lead vocalist Rich Beale gently croons: ' I believe
in Methylated Mermaids'. It is clear that Apache Dropout
have been cut adrift and are sailing into dark water.
Whether the inner demons have been curtailed only time
will tell.
With the flip side offering the delectable and radio-friendly
(in sound at least) 'Story of Love', Apache Dropout
know a thing or two about how to write something of
a pop gem.
