GREBO (album review)
DON'T JUST DO SOMETHING, STAND THERE
(Sugar Shack)
BEHOLD your future executioners, the new teenage brit-punk
revolution/revelation is upon us: seems if you stick
around long enough there's always gonna be one along.
Bristol's Grebo have been together for about two years,
have already released an album's worth of material on
three EPs that highlight the self deprecating talent
of songwriter Ben, a prodigious and prolific talent
as well as playing anywhere that will let them set up.
Not unlike the almost-psychotic positively of The Ataris
- who they supported last year - it's sad comment on
the times that they have seen to deliver everything
in a faux TransAtlantic accent, perhaps reasoning that
if they sound American then maybe people will think
they're American. Still, it's not worth nit picking
with anyone who can turn out songs as good as 'Sleep'
and the fantastic, emotional 'Never Alone'.
